Daugherty goes so far as to say that Ethereum’s ledger should no longer even be considered a real blockchain. Rather, it is a distributed ledger network that just mimics the structure and processes of a real blockchain.
Daugherty argues that Proof of Stake more closely resembles an oligarchic system, which centralises power into the hands of wealthy stakeholders and sacrifices security for projected energy savings. He also criticises Ethereum’s gas fees and cites the blockchain trilemma theory as flawed.
He further suggests that PoW is a groundbreaking system with limitless potential and warns against sacrificing innovation and security for the sake of sustainability.
